Poetry "PARALLEL MOTION, FLYING CAT’S SILENCE" published in MPT (UK)

My poetry ‘Parallel Motion, Flying Cat’s Silence’ has been published in the British magazine Modern Poetry in Translation !（Oxford, UK）

What is the music of the earth? How can poetry listen to the cycles and seasons of nature, the sounds of water and wind? What stories might the rivers and forests tell, what are their histories and memories?

In the current issue of Modern Poetry in Translation, we looked for translated work that explores the theme of rhythms of the land. We welcomed poems related to ecology, climate change, mythologies that respect the earth, correspondences between outer territory and inner self, and the cultivation of a slow, nurturing relation with communities and other beings, in contrast to the acceleration and violence of the news cycle.

There were two self-translations: one by Ali Asadollahi and the other by me.

Below is an excerpt from Editorial.

Emi Miyaoka (self-translated) presents a vision that is musical, fantastical and playfully curious, featuring flying cats, a promise of what the future might bring.

Ali Asadollahi (self-translated) dedicates his poem to a lake, which is full of love, but also expresses anguish at environmental destruction and frustration at the silence that prevails.

The flying cat that appears in this poem is an imaginary creature, but I hope for a broad-minded world where such beings might exist. Especially in today’s unstable world, even if it is small and powerless, I hope this poem can bring comfort to someone, somewhere.
